Day One Hundred Thirty Nine: Up Close | Delicate | Near
I have a beautiful full flower bed of these little flowers on the side of my house ~ Lily-of-the-Valley. I have never really looked at them from the bottom side and I was pleasantly surprised to see the vibrant color that is hidden under the little bell shaped petals. I looked up a bit of history on these and found out that these are May's flower. These flowers signify happiness, purity, humility, and renewal. The lily-of-the-valley has even been used to describe Jesus Christ or Mary's tears. Other legends state that the lily-of-the-valley materialized from Eve's tears when she was removed from the Garden of Eden. It is common to use these pretty white flowers in wedding bouquets because of their fragrance and they have also been used to tell someone "You complete me."

This is the second time I have taken on this challenge. I completed a 365 in 2014 - took 2015 off and decided that this year I wanted to do another challenge. I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I am kicking myself that I didn't do a challenge in 2015 so this is me getting back into doing something I enjoy so very much! Archives
