Day One Hundred Twenty One: Curl | Coil | Wavy
I love observing my life through my camera. Photography does make me slow down and really watch and see what's happening around me on a different level. Today's prompt had us slow down and observe. My kids and I walked to our nearby park that is right by this beautiful curling creek. I loved sitting next to it and watching the waves coil over the unknown objects that rest at the bottom of the shallow water. My boys were enjoying throwing different objects like dandelions and pine cones and pieces of sticks and seeing who would win the race. It was usually a tie or one of the objects would get caught on a piece of grass at the edges. It's a bit of a brisk day with a cool wind but we wound up spending about 3 hours out there between our walk and enjoying the park. Blake wanted to be my subject today - he looks so peaceful to me just watching the creek bubble and travel to parts unknown.

Day One Hundred Twenty: First Performance | In The Spot Light | Natural Talent | Guitarist
I created my own prompt today because this fit better into my everyday life. Gavin performed at the Central Lakes College Music Department Spring 2016 Applied Music Recital today. He has only had FOUR lessons and yet he willingly got up to play in front of an audience of about 40-50 people!!! I was BLOWN away by his confidence and motivation! He officially decided on his song this last Tuesday and practiced about 15-20 times before today. "Ode to Joy" by L.V. Beethoven was his choice (it was between that one or Jingle Bells and we thought that it would be better not to play a Christmas song since we are so ready to welcome the Spring/Summer time). The majority of the performers were college students who have had lessons for months and months so for Gavin to follow through and get up there to play just blew us away. He wasn't the youngest performer there - a 5 year old picked up a little guitar and played us a song too! It was awesome and we are so proud of our young man! Day One Hundred Nineteen: Looking Down | From Above | Downward | Notice
I always wonder how these two see each other. Do they see the similarities that others see? For me - they are black and white different. When they were babies, we would ask Blake what his name was and he would tell us it was Gavin. Of course, that was giggle worthy. They only call each other brother. I can count on one hand the number of times I have heard them call each other by name. In fact, it's weird for me to hear them do so... I have always said that I am envious of these two. Built in best friends for life! Gavin was the first born 'baby A' - he is my go getter - he is my not-so-shy guy. Blake is 'baby B' and he is the sort who takes his time and waits to see what his brother is going to do first. Just this year they have really started to show us different sides to who they are becoming... Gavin is our guitarist and Blake loved being in chess club. It makes things busy but so much fun! Do they see their brother as an extension of who they are ~ or just someone they are connected to on such a deep and profound level which is something I don't think they would understand at this age anyway... No matter what, it's amazing to experience as their mother and I can't wait to see how they change as the years go on! Day One Hundred Eighteen: Well-Loved | Adored | Worn | Cherished
I love my morning walks with my furry baby. If I am not motivated to get going - she makes sure to jump around with enough excitement and energy for both of us to get out there on these early mornings. (As far as 'worn' yes, I would say that fits for her - she is close enough to touch me 80% of the day so she is very much worn in my world as funny as that sounds). I feel like I have to document more and more with her - she is going to be 13 this July and I just feel like the end years are upon me. She has only ever been truly my dog even with the four other humans she has in our home. She could care less for those other people. (giggle) She is well-loved, adored, and cherished 100%!! Day One Hundred Seventeen: Retro | Nostalgic | Dated | Style
I can just imagine how awesome it would have been to walk around back in the late 70s with this bad boy! I asked a cousin of mine to keep an eye out at auctions for old cameras and she didn't disappoint with this one. I researched this camera and per polaroid.com/history this camera's debut was 1977. "This inexpensive, fixed-focus camera becomes the best-selling camera, instant or conventional, in the US." I am hoping to start a collection of old vintage cameras and this one is the first. So, if you have any laying around that you just don't want to keep space for - I'll gladly take them off your hands! :) Day One Hundred Sixteen: Standing | Pose | View | Angle
I had been waiting all day for my hubby to get home so I could pose with him for this! I love getting low to the ground to take photos and this gave me the perfect opportunity to kiss and love up my hubby right as he got home from a busy day of work. It was chilly on our toes so this was fast... I set up the tripod and set my camera to take 5 quick shots - ran in to warm up our cold tootsies and with a quick conversion to black and white ~ I am good for today. I love standing tall with this man. He is the one I will follow to the end of the earth. My best friend for life! Day One Hundred Fifteen: Rule of Thirds | To One Side | Not Centered | TicTacToe
It is a lovely rainy day (and I am really not being sarcastic - I love rainy days)! I found that it was extremely hard to capture rain drops in the puddles forming in our lawn so I opted to look a little higher for my subject today. We are under a forest of pine trees (we live on Pine Tree Lane) so it's common for me to have these in my photos. I have been enjoying having a lazy day with the window cracked listening to the calming drops. Day One Hundred Fourteen: Magnify | Macro | Enhance | Heighten
It was a fantastic day - just the five of us went on a 3 hour bike ride on some beautiful paved trails that we have nearby. We took our time and had many breaks to let little legs rest and had lots of snacks available to keep little bellies satisfied. These pretty sprouts caught my eye and my chivalrous hubby so willingly tried to climb the tree where they were spotted and had us all rolling with laughter when he did so... He couldn't quite make it up this one specific tree so we rode a bit more to find some with branches at an easy to reach level. I am so blessed! He helps me out any way he can! We aren't sure what it is to be honest but it sure is pretty and I was happy to get up close to this one to enhance all the little details. Day One Hundred Thirteen: Light and Bright | Sunny | White | Shine
Loved the enjoyment of watching my three babies playing with bubbles. One of the most innocent things a child can do in my mind. The excitement of just chasing and popping those pretty bubbles sure brightens up my day! We had a nice contrast today compared to yesterday - the day is definitely light and bright/sunny/white/shiny. Now it's on to get the grill going to make dinner! Day One Hundred Twelve: Dark and Moody | Emotion | Gloomy | Dim
Today has been a typical MN spring day as far as the weather is concerned. During my morning walk I watched the sun come up to a clear and beautiful blue sky. I then spent the morning in windowless buildings as my daughter and I did our grocery shopping. So, coming out of the store to see this dark and moody sky - it was a big difference from our morning. I have always been a fan of gloomy/dim/rainy days. For me they come with a comforting feeling. These clouds gave us just a quick little shower and now we are under a grey sky and my dramatic cloud cover has moved on. It worked out perfect for today's prompt. |

This is the second time I have taken on this challenge. I completed a 365 in 2014 - took 2015 off and decided that this year I wanted to do another challenge. I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I am kicking myself that I didn't do a challenge in 2015 so this is me getting back into doing something I enjoy so very much! Archives
