Day Ninety-One: Asymmetrical | Curl | Irregular | Formed
I was struggling with what to photograph today - so I took a walk through my yard during a break in the rain and was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of green poking out of my little bed of plants that I lovingly take care of throughout the summer. The little drops of water on this little plant forming it's irregular and asymmetrical leaves through the dead all around it was a happy surprise. I also looked up the word asymmetrical to see if I could get some inspiration and here are other words I liked: lopsided, unsymmetrical, uneven, unbalanced, crooked, awry, askew, skew, misaligned - yup - I think this guy matches that description!

Day Ninety: Wide | Aperture | Soft | Expanded
My poor son, Blake, stayed home sick today. His daddy and I finally passed on the horrible colds we had and he caught it. This was a big deal for him because he hasn't missed ONE day of school in Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade. We thought we were well on our way to another perfect year for 3rd with no absences but it was just not to be. That bothered him the most. I love that he has such a love for school. So, we did a lot of cuddling today - which was a perfect sort of day to do so as it was a rainy and dreary day outside. (The prompt had us work with a wide aperture today on whatever subject we choose).
Day Eighty-Eight: Vintage | Old | Classic
My grandparents documented their lives! I am so grateful for that too. They kept their albums all nice and labeled from their start back in 1959. I love these old classic photos. And to see the vintage boats, cars, scooters, and motorcycles that they owned was so cool! This is why I do what I do - photos are all we are left with sometimes. Grandma and Grandpa (the big photo is their wedding photo) both passed in 2011 and I miss them everyday. It's so neat to see what their life looked like long before I was even thought of. I only wish they were here to tell me the stories behind these images and what they were doing and who some of the people are in relation to me. Day Eighty-Seven: Depth of Field | Bokeh | Distance | Focus Range
Happy Easter! Today is a day, not to celebrate something about a bunny and eggs, but a day to acknowledge the extreme pain and sacrifice that our Savior went through in order to fulfill all the promises made by our Father in Heaven. Easter is about our RISEN LORD. Jesus, who was tortured and beaten and bruised and NAILED to a cross FOR ME - FOR YOU, who rose from the DEAD - to prove to us that HE is the ONE TRUE GOD. No question about it in my mind. My children did wake up to find an assortment of eggs scattered around our yard hidden by the Easter Bunny - but they know that the real reason we celebrate Easter is because we are remembering Jesus - who loved us so completely and without question - that he died for us eons before we would even take our first breath on this earth... Pretty profound! My children know that the Easter Bunny is a fun tradition and that's it. We didn't have a chance to dye our own eggs this year so these pictured here are from my nephew's hard work. Thanks buddy! Day Eighty-Six: Branches | From Below | Foliage | Weather
Our neck of the world is pretty dreary and lacking luster still and I just wasn't feeling up to getting outside in the chilly weather today to find something that stood out for a nice photo. Not to mention, I have been under the weather myself since Wednesday with a HORRIBLE cold so staying in sounded nice before our busy Easter day tomorrow. This pretty plant is one that I have had for almost 10 years. It's a spider plant that my mom started for me from her spider plant. She received a 'baby' from her mother's spider when she got married and in turn, gave a baby to me when I got married. It's the only plant that I have kept alive all these years. It goes out each spring when it gets warm enough and I bring it in each winter. Day Eighty-Five: In Motion | Movement | Splash | Going
It's a perfect prompt for me today because I am in charge of making the fruit pizza and cookie/mandarin orange fruit salad for Easter this Sunday at my in-laws house. I have to rinse the fruit before I start making those yummy treats. Day Eighty-Four: Suspended | Stopped | Hanging | Swing
"Boys! Would you come outside and help me with my photo today?" "SURE!" So, here they are playing with their oversized badminton set - it was a lot of fun!
Day Eighty-Two: Night Lights | Long Exposure | Outside
It was a nice night - we just finished with the kids' conferences (all of which were GREAT and we are so proud of all three of our munchkins and how they are doing)! Driving home, we had the enjoyment of seeing the natural night light of that beautiful full moon. I decided to just play with light trails on our little dirt road that leads to our home. I am not 100% thrilled with this photo but it is something I am planning on playing with again soon. |

This is the second time I have taken on this challenge. I completed a 365 in 2014 - took 2015 off and decided that this year I wanted to do another challenge. I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I am kicking myself that I didn't do a challenge in 2015 so this is me getting back into doing something I enjoy so very much! Archives
