Day Two Hundred Seventy Four: In Public | Street | People | Places
It's my daughter's SIXTH birthday today. We went out this morning to the street to take her photos. That's about as in public as we got and we only saw one person as we were doing her little photo shoot - our neighbor who walks to work in the morning. :) She looks so mature here. My husband was shocked with how old she looks. We just can't believe she is SIX years old already!

Day Two Hundred Seventy Three:
Left Behind | Remain | Find | Notice As mundane as this photo is ~ I wanted to capture it. Each day, once I get that last hug from each of my babies as I send them out the door to wait for the bus, I come back inside to a messy kitchen table.. The remains from breakfast! Some days I grumble and groan as I clean up because I had asked them to clean up after themselves several times... And then, days like today, I remind myself that one day I won't have this and I know I'll miss it. The mundane ~ the busyness ~ the repeated requests ~ the messes left behind for mommy to pick up... The days that pile up and before I know it they are another year older and closer to leaving our home. These are the days I need to notice. These are the days that are going by way too fast! Day Two Hundred Seventy Two: Arranged (or Quoted) | Display | Styled | Art
Things just started to unravel today... My computer's internal Wi-Fi component crashed and it took me hours to get a resolution for that problem... That pushed the start of my work day off for 4 hours... FRUSTRATING!! Then I found out there was a mix up with my PayPal and a charge went through that I thought I had cancelled.... FRUSTRATING!! Then, my husband can't answer his phone while he's working and he was the only person I wanted to talk to about my frustrations and I couldn't... FRUSTRATING!! After finally getting my computer going again and getting my work day going, I received an e-mail from the boss letting me know that they are changing my office space for the EIGHTH time in the seven years I have been there... Did I say how FRUSTRATED I am?! I needed to take a break so as I went exploring outside and inside taking photos here and there and then I saw my little wine topper that I have hanging over my stove with my collection of wine corks that says: "Wine a little ~ it'll make you feel better." I thought that was fitting for my day. I have been feeling pretty whiny and crabby. But then, as I was taking photos of this arrangement, I calmed down (as photography can do for a person) and I decided to leave that blank space to add a positive quote - I CAN change my mind on how frustrating things make me feel. I am choosing to give it to God and finish my day and ensure that I am refreshed and happy when my family gets home. Day Two Hundred Seventy One: Three Forms | Three | Group | Process
I don't know much about the exact process that my hubby does to reload his own shells for hunting and/or shooting ~ but I do know that he loves doing it. These are the supplies I often see him using to get that finished product ~ ready for hunting or for sport. He loves to shoot! Day Two Hundred Seventy:
Scraps | Left Over | Recycle | Odds and Ends While the boys are at Tae Kwon Do, the girls were able to go out to play. I had actually asked her if she wanted to go take photos with me and packed both of my cameras anticipating an hour of walking and exploring with my baby girl... My sweet girl had a different idea and led us to the library instead. We had so much fun! This bin is full of many scraps of felt that can be placed on a felt wall. Can you imagine the hundreds of stories that have been told using these supplies ~ which could fall into the recycle part of the prompt. I love the look on her face. She looked down and exclaimed,"ohh! Look, I found another number!" Such an awesome idea ~ to use all sorts of odds and ends to create fun stories! And then, if you are lucky enough to come to this wall and find left over stories from other small imaginations ~ you can either start a story all over again or add your own ideas to it! (This was just a quick cell shot ~ I was having too much fun making stories on the wall)! Day Two Hundred Sixty Nine:
Triangular | Angles | Dots | Lines I knew my church would fit today's prompt perfectly! Day Two Hundred Sixty Eight:
Amuse Yourself | On the Ground | Dog | Game It's been a rough 8 days for Fuji... Last Friday she was attacked by a friends new-to-them dog. (They only had this new puppy for two weeks. And when I say puppy, he is about 9 months old but he is the size of a lab already ~ so quite a bit larger than my dog). All we can think of for the reason behind the attack was that Fuji got too close to his bone laying on the floor. It was a split second but quite vicious and Fuji was hurt badly. We stayed the weekend and by Monday she couldn't open her right eye so I made a vet appointment as soon as I could which wasn't until Tuesday. The vet did her check up and we realized there were three wounds from the attack (my husband and I thought there were only two). They discovered that a tooth was broken during the attack which caused an abscessed tooth. They took blood to check for any other problems before we discussed surgery for her mouth and I was heartbroken to find out that she has early stages of kidney failure. Yes, it's been a rough week for both of us. She is now on three different meds and a special (expensive) diet for her kidney issues. Fuji is 13 years old. I officially adopted her on 9/12/2003. She has been my very best friend all these years and I am not giving up on her yet. Especially when I still see signs of the young puppy that she once was. Here, she kept running back and forth to the door like "come on mom ~ I want to go back in the house and get back to my nap" that I so rudely woke her from. She was running and prancing and jumping at me. This is a common game we play.
Day Two Hundred Sixty Five: Intentional | Calculated | On Purpose | Planned
Intentional... What a profound word. I think it's such an important thing to be intentional in our lives. Intentional with our words either written or spoken. Words have such power in this life. They can build up or tear down. Once a word is released we can't take it back ~ unless, of course you are writing with a pencil and then you can erase and start again. My photography is intentional. I put a lot of thought into what I want to achieve before I push my shutter. I took this with my 50mm lens with a 10x macro filter. |
Danette Badger
This is the second time I have taken on this challenge. I completed a 365 in 2014 - took 2015 off and decided that this year I wanted to do another challenge. I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I am kicking myself that I didn't do a challenge in 2015 so this is me getting back into doing something I enjoy so very much! Archives
