Day Two Hundred Ninety Five:
Details | Macro | Up Close | Fine Lines Yesterday's prompt might have worked out better for me because I was able to actually relax and spend time at the park with my kids today. While they were happily playing ~ I played with my camera and took LOTS of photos of all kinds of things... On days like this it's hard to chose a favorite but it seems like I have a bit of an Autumn theme this week so I thought that sticking with a leaf was a good route. I only wish there were some colorful ones laying around.

Day Two Hundred Ninety Four:
Take a Break | Relax | Slow Down | Reward This was the silliest break I could have given myself today. I have been running ragged today ~ grocery shopping ~ deep cleaned bathroom ~ windows in the house washed inside and out (no idea where that burst of energy came from). Then, run the boys to Tae Kwon Do where I ran out to this pretty tree just to sit for a very quick moment ~ enjoying the breeze on my face and the beautiful colors around me. Five minutes was all I was able to enjoy and I don't feel refreshed enough from my busy day ~ knowing the chores that wait at home still incomplete...
Jack put the ember inside of a turnip and roamed the earth without a resting place, lighting the way with his Jack O' Lantern. On All Hallows Eve, the Irish would carve turnips, rutabagas, gourds, potatoes, and beets. They did this to ward off evil spirits and keep Stingy Jack away. When the Irish came to America, they found that using pumpkins were easier to carve out because they were so big. And so, our Jack O' Lanterns are carved using pumpkins.
I always knew that Jack O' Lanterns were used to keep away yucky spirits but I didn't know the story of Stingy Jack. We don't have our Jack O' Lanterns carved yet but I do have this decorative "lamp" hanging outside our front door - is it spooky enough to keep away anything eerie or ghostly or mysterious? Day Two Hundred Ninety Two:
Spin | Twist | Shutter Speed | Turn I was very surprised how hard it was to find acorns today. In keeping with the idea for the week of slowing down ~ that's what I did! I left work a bit early to go hunt for acorns. That was a nice relaxing break before a crazy evening of Tae Kwon Do and a dance program my daughter is in tonight. Day Two Hundred Ninety One:
Split Second | Blink of an Eye | Flash | Jiffy Before we know it these trees will be bare and brown and the beauty that God provides now will be a memory for another Autumn season... Then comes Winter ~ in the blink of an eye that will be here... Day Two Hundred Ninety: Slow Down | Step Back | Calming | Peaceful
I had two photo shoots today much to my enjoyment! And even better than spending time with two awesome families capturing happy memories was the time I had in between the shoots. I was able to take 30-45 minutes for just me - time where I was able to slow down and enjoy the peacefulness of our beautiful Autumn colors! It was a very calming day for me! Slow down and observe - that's what photography has taught me the most! Otherwise, shots like this are just missed. Day Two Hundred Eighty Nine: A Treat | Candy | Morsel | Sweet
It's coming to the end of Minnesota's season for sweet corn. There are no more farmers setting up their booths on the side of the roads selling their crops and we do miss those yummy morsels all through the winter - canned corn just isn't the same as the fresh stuff off the cob! We went to a corn maze today and the only stalks left are going to be treats for the deer. This little one stood out quite a bit to me and my son Blake as we were walking through and I loved how yellow and orange it is. I did NO editing to this color! Gorgeous huh?? :) Day Two Hundred Eighty Eight: Orange and Black | Together | Arranged | Display
This little display is courtesy of my daughter who put the window clings on our big picture window. They are all in the bottom right corner of the huge window but I love it.
Day Two Hundred Eighty Six:
Traveling Pumpkin | Scenery | Moving | Touring My little pumpkin explored some of my favorite things of Autumn... warm fires (or just the rocks around the fire pit and the pile of wood waiting to be burned for our enjoyment), beautiful leaves, and yes, even the mess of pine cones and pine needles scattered all over my yard and deck. |
Danette Badger
This is the second time I have taken on this challenge. I completed a 365 in 2014 - took 2015 off and decided that this year I wanted to do another challenge. I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I am kicking myself that I didn't do a challenge in 2015 so this is me getting back into doing something I enjoy so very much! Archives
