Day 332/365: A huge tradition in my life around this time of year is getting my annual gift of homemade calendars made and ready for Christmas. These are my favorite things about Christmas. Everyone who receives one absolutely LOVES them and it makes me so happy to be able to do these. They are made 100% out of scratch! I start with white paper and add, add, and add to them until they are colorful, photo filled, and ready to fill up with all the events for the upcoming year. I make 6 of these each year for grandparents, aunts and uncles, and even a good friend of mine, and of course, one of my own. I make them for the upcoming year as a look back on the previous year so they truly become a year long project. (January of 2015 will have a photo taken in January of 2014. It's a neat way to see how much we have all changed in the course of a year). Another thing about this is that I am not a person who uses her phone for her photos much, so instead of going to my norm of using my camera, I used my phone for this photo...
Day 330/365: I wasn't able to get out and about today to look for a colorful scene. So, while I was cuddling with my hubby watching Titanic (yes, my husband does watch these movies with me), I loved how they depicted the difference from what the glory of the boat was, to what it is now, a mess under the ocean. A very sad mess for sure. There were too many lives lost on that horribly tragic accident and this movie really tells a wonderful story of the short voyage that this majestic boat had.
Day 325/365: I was very blessed today with a very unpredictable sight. I am sitting at home working and I just happened to look outside and saw this beautiful woodpecker flying to the neighbors trees. I ran to my camera, slipped outside on a snow covered deck in my socks and did my best to capture a nice picture. I truly do love these unpredictable opportunities!
Day 324/365: This is very much a candid shot of me and my dog, Fujisu (Fuji). We were sitting in my daughter's room and she was getting awfully playful so I thought I would try and see if she would howl with me. She did and it provided a very cute candid. :) We are both howling here and I was struggling not to smile while trying to snap the photo!
Day 323/365: I am very thankful for my four lenses! However, just last night, when I went to the local photography club, I was seeking out advice on others' favorite lenses so I can simplify a bit... It is so cumbersome to carry all four lenses around, but I have found that sometimes I need to use all 4 during the day. It makes for a very heavy camera bag!
Here is an additional photo as an after thought today:
I was out shoveling off the small layer of newly fallen fluffy snow off our back deck and it dawned on me that this is the 4th winter at our home!
Day 318/365: my family and I went to a local hotel that allows public to use their swimming facilities for a small fee. We enjoyed the pool all to ourselves for two whole hours! Even though my babies were being noisy, I was still able to enjoy the hottub with my hubby and really relax! It was a bit of heaven tonight!
Day 317/365: I have yearly scrapbooks made starting from 2004. My kids love to look at them! Today, my daughter wanted to look at "when I was a baby." So we pulled out year 2010 and she flipped through. When we got to the part of me pregnant with her, she was asking all these silly questions: "That's me in your fat belly?" And my favorite question: "You ate me?" This made me giggle so hard. I love their idea of how all that stuff works. (No baby girl, mommy did not eat you, you grew in my [fat] belly)!
Day 316/365: I have said this SO many times but the thought never leaves my head... My boys are the luckiest people I know. They are twins and the bond they share is beyond anything I could have imagined any sort of sibling could share. I asked them to help me with this prompt today and they thought it would be cool to do a pinky promise. Then they told me that boys don't do pinky promises, they shake hands to seal a promise. I loved their thoughts and when asking about the final image, they liked this one the best, so this is the one I am using.
Day 314/365: My little dog sure isn't happy about the snow fall today, but I am. I have never disliked winter. I feel like it's the earths way of resetting. I love the clean white blanket we get after a fresh snowfall. It covers all the grey and dull colors of the end of fall. Winter brings us so much fun - all of the outdoor activities that we bundle up for are things that my family loves so much. Not to mention the hot chocolate we buy in bulk during these months too!
I have taken on a challenge to take one photo a day for this entire year. I have been excited to join up with an amazing community of talented photographers who have also taken on this challenge. The goals I have for myself this year is to, first of all, complete the whole year of 365 photos. I also want to allow this challenge to teach me all I can about the equipment I have in order to better myself as a photographer. I am excited to learn and experience so much this year through this challenge. Thank you for taking the time to look through my journey. It truly means a lot to me.
