Day 161/365: My favorite things about a staycation is grilling out on the back deck. I love when the smells from the grill fill the house. It makes me feel all nostalgic for everything that is summer. We do some fun stuff on the grill. From yummy rubs/glazes - to cedar boards - to marinades - there is so many possibilities. And for some reason, summer brings out all sort of creative new dishes for us to try. Tonight was honey herb glazed chicken! It was delicious and even my munchkins had thirds! It was a happy way to celebrate my 8th wedding anniversary with my husband. A great meal with my little family. :)

Tomorrow is our 8th wedding anniversary. We have been friends for 14 years, dating for 10 years and married for 8 years! :) Happily!
Day 159/365: We did get away today. After church and getting some errands done, we packed up our bikes and drove to a nearby bike trail where we spent a couple of hours enjoying all the beautiful scenery as well as the exceptionally beautiful weather! This was a nice spot to stop for a quick snack before we continued on our mini get away for the day. Moments like these are when I can truly recharge and escape for a bit - when it's just the five us of laughing and talking and spending time together. It wouldn't matter where I am - as long as I am with these people - I am fulfilled and complete! Day 158/365: I think I can say that I hold a bit of the world in my hands as photographer! Whether I am photographing people or places or wildlife - I am preserving a huge part of our world's history. NOTHING will be the same after I push that shutter! I know that it's hard to see the beautiful little globe that I am holding but I didn't want to pull to much focus off of the beautiful background. I won't ever be able to enjoy all the beauty that God has provided for us on this beautiful planet - but I am thankful for the small slice that I am lucky enough to travel on and capture via my camera!
They brought home their "Memory Books" that the teachers make for parents each year. It was so wonderful to relive their year with them as we looked through the books and heard many stories about what they remember from those days. So, yes, the days have just flown by... This was a nice way for me to just go and reflect a bit while I was listening to the water flow by.
Day 155/365: Today was the annual First Graders Track & Field day. This is my oldest son and he won a 50 meter dash - FIRST PLACE!! If only these photos could speak - literally each photo he was yelling to us "I WON FIRST PLACE!!" It brought tears to my eyes just seeing him so full of pride and joy from this accomplishment. He was also successful in another event today. He participated in a softball throw and out of the WHOLE 1st grade - he took second place in that event. His name was called over the loud speaker and everything. Sure made his day and even his brothers! Both of my boys did excellent today and I captured a lot of great moments. Day 154/365: My boys went on their end of year class trip to a local zoo and I was surrounded by a plethora of beautiful wildlife. It does make me sad that some of these animals are caged. However, without great zoo's that take care of them - how would we ever be lucky enough to see them and really learn about them? This beautiful white peacock was my favorite of the day and when he decided to show off his beautiful physique - it was breathtaking! He came right up to us with feathers down and then made a beautiful show of raising his feathers and strutting for us to watch. I could have spent all afternoon watching him. It was amazing! I'm so glad to have been able to share this day with my boys. This is a priceless memory for me!

I have taken on a challenge to take one photo a day for this entire year. I have been excited to join up with an amazing community of talented photographers who have also taken on this challenge. The goals I have for myself this year is to, first of all, complete the whole year of 365 photos. I also want to allow this challenge to teach me all I can about the equipment I have in order to better myself as a photographer. I am excited to learn and experience so much this year through this challenge. Thank you for taking the time to look through my journey. It truly means a lot to me. Archives
