Day 99/365: I smile because they are healthy. I smile because they are happy. I smile because they are silly. I smile when they give me hugs. I smile when they give me kisses. I smile when they tell me their stories. I smile because they love me. I smile because God gave them to me to love. They are heaven sent little packages of joy! I'm so proud of them! The bottom right photo is my daughter holding both her brother's hands and makes my heart melt! :)
Day 97/365: Sometimes you really need to step in close and really look... This is a vase that I had out for my wedding. In it holds a candle that we lit in memory of those that couldn't be with us on that special day. This now sits on a shelf in my daughter's room and until today - I never really looked at it. The vase is beautiful as it is covered with all of these beautiful flowers, but getting in close really brought to my attention, again, how beautiful this is and how much I really love it! Sometimes it's ok to say that we'll step back and take a look at things - but sometimes we need to really get in close to get an even better perspective!
I am one of those people who is literally incapable of seeing others as unattractive. I have had a past of depression, anxiety, worry, guilt, feelings of helplessness, and obesity. Some of my own personal issues have been dealt with and healed and some are still a struggle on a here and there sort of basis. My point is, we are not perfect. We have flaws on the inside and the outside. The thing that makes us strong is how we deal with them. If we choose to live a life where we hide in the shadows and avoid confronting our problems, they will only compile and destroy us. But, if we accept who we are and we embrace the beauty of our so-called flaws - we can SOAR!! We can become a person who isn't afraid to keep our hand down and smile bright into the camera. Day 93/365: This used to by my twin boys' room. It's a smaller room and when we first moved in there was room for their two toddler beds on either side of the room. Since then, they have moved downstairs to their own spaces. So, mommy was lucky enough to confiscate this room all for her! The desk on the left hand side has a desktop computer that I do all of my photography work on. That desk also holds my printer where I print all my own photos for scrapbooking. The tall table is where I stand while I do my "day job" which is a clinic billing specialist. (Yes, I am lucky enough to say that I can work from home). Next to my laptop is my little stereo that my iPhone plugs into and I BLAST my music while I work. Then the table on the right is where all my scrapbooking and other creative endeavors happen. This room is off limits to all little hands. And they know that when the door is shut, to politely knock and ask what they need. Then behind me I have a television set where I watch yoga DVD's and work out. This room sees a lot of activity from me. This is where mommy can get away and let the disruptions fall to daddy for short amounts of time. :) It's not usually this messy but I've been busy with my new scrapbook and things move around a lot in this small room.
Day 91/365: Oh to not have vision problems! I cannot see more than about 6 inches from my face so I am always either needing contacts or glasses. It's a hassle some days but I remind myself that I am very blessed to have the means to have nice glasses and contacts. I thought it would be fun to see how I could take a photo without my glasses on. So, as silly as it was, I took off my glasses, looked through the viewfinder to make sure that it was framed as much as possible and I pushed the shutter... This was the final product which actually came out pretty good. :) |

I have taken on a challenge to take one photo a day for this entire year. I have been excited to join up with an amazing community of talented photographers who have also taken on this challenge. The goals I have for myself this year is to, first of all, complete the whole year of 365 photos. I also want to allow this challenge to teach me all I can about the equipment I have in order to better myself as a photographer. I am excited to learn and experience so much this year through this challenge. Thank you for taking the time to look through my journey. It truly means a lot to me. Archives
