Day 11: This photo was taken in January 2011 with my grandma who was admitted in hospice. During this visit, I was able to cry with my grandma and ultimately say good-bye (she died shortly after we flew back to MN from AZ). We had the conversation about how we would see each other again someday and that's how I know she's in good hands. I am struggling with how to describe what I want to get across on this one... I miss my grandma very much (my grandfather too for that matter as he passed away just 6 months after my grandma). This is a special image for the fact that there are 4 generations here. Each with strengths and weaknesses, but each with something good that they have (or will) pass down to the next. We have been a very lucky family because each one of us has been raised in good hands.

Day 9: Where I stand. I thought of many different ways to do this today... Such as standing in my winter boots in the snow while my face and hands freeze. Because even though we seem to be out of the deep freeze where our temperatures have finally gotten above 0 degrees, the wind is still insanely cold! So, instead, today is the day that my daughter and I get to have just for us. We spent time doing manicures and pedicures and after rubbing each other's feet with lotion, and putting on the coziest socks we have, and taking a picture of it all; this is the one that stood out. And it works perfectly as a topic today. I will always stand where my family is and where they need me.
Day 7: We are 7 days into this New Year when we all hope that that switch from one year to the next will bring nothing but blessings and good fortune. However, our family has had quite an unfortunate start to our year. Both of our vehicles have struggled with this extreme cold and it has caused a lot of stress for my hubby. We are just hoping that as we pull out of this cold weather and get further into 2014 our luck will change. We always know there is light at the end of the tunnel and we will make it through as we always do. Hoping that you may be having a better time with this New Year and that everyone is staying warm and happy!
Day 5: I took this photo today as I was sitting next to my wonderful husband in church. I enjoy these cuddles so very much after the kids get to go down for Sunday school. We get to listen to wonderful messages and really just sit together and be an "us" without any worries and get a bit refreshed for the upcoming week. However, this afternoon I witnessed a different sort of cuddle in a pew. I attended a memorial service for a very dear friend of mine who lost her son to a horrible addiction. I was thinking about these cuddles in the pew that I so enjoy. I watched a mother and father grieve the loss of their son. And yes, they were cuddling in the pew. It was such a different and much more profound cuddle then the one I got to experience this morning. We all need these cuddles from those we draw support and love from and I'm happy to have experienced and witnessed both of these today. To my friend: I'm sorry that your cuddle wasn't as carefree as the one I got to experience this morning with my husband. But after this storm, and as long as you meet your hubby at the pew, those cuddles will get there again. I'm so very happy to have been there to help you celebrate the life of your son! Day 3/365: Oh how very cold it is. Unfortunately, because of the extreme cold, there was no fun in the snow to be had today. So, this is a blast from the past that was taken very close to this time of year last January. We absolutely love the winter (when it's bearable). Snow tubing is SO much fun and we are looking forward to enjoying this winter sport again this year once it does decide to at least get as warm as the 30's or higher! |

I have taken on a challenge to take one photo a day for this entire year. I have been excited to join up with an amazing community of talented photographers who have also taken on this challenge. The goals I have for myself this year is to, first of all, complete the whole year of 365 photos. I also want to allow this challenge to teach me all I can about the equipment I have in order to better myself as a photographer. I am excited to learn and experience so much this year through this challenge. Thank you for taking the time to look through my journey. It truly means a lot to me. Archives
