Day One Hundred Eleven: Simple | Clean | Smooth | Light
I totally missed the mark on the clean and smooth part of today's prompt but I liked the idea of how simple this little guy is peaking out of his home in this evening's bright light. My kids and I took a walk down to a creek near our home and I was wracking my brain on what to use today when I saw these little creatures busy as can be and working hard. My son, Blake, crouched down with me and we enjoyed just watching them when he said to me, "I love nature." You got that right buddy! It's pretty amazing!

Day One Hundred Ten: F/1.8 | Bokeh | Sharpness | Selective Focus
Shooting wide open is my favorite! I love the look of soft backgrounds that make my subjects pop. Today when I asked my kids who would like to be my model for the prompt - they fought over it! Gavin won though - we decided that mommy would make sure to keep track of who is used and make sure to keep it fair. I LOVE that they like to be involved with my hobby. This was a quick photo that actually came out pretty much like I had pictured in my head (that doesn't happen that often to be honest - they usually turn out much worse than I had hoped or much better). In fact, this came out even better than I had imagined because of that handsome young man smiling up at me through his umbrella on this rainy day. Day One Hundred Nine: Go Wide | Step Back | Broad | Expanse
It's true that my typical shooting style is to get in close. I like to get those shots that capture the detail on the bits and pieces of whatever it is I am shooting. I am grateful for prompts like this that push me to step back. Tonight baseball started for my boys - they are the Colts this year and were so excited to start! I thank God that my husband and I are able to do this for them and that we get to come and watch them. I thank God for the excitement that they have - the movement in their bodies - and the joy of expanding their skills in a sport that they enjoy very much. Day One Hundred Eight: Exposure | Light | Open | Bright
This week my group is working on exposure - today was experimenting with ISO. I think I have the concept of ISO understood - all I know is that I basically hate shooting anything higher than 100. I am not a fan of grainy images for myself. Maybe it's my equipment - or maybe it's just something I need to learn to embrace and learn to love. I just struggle with that in my own preference of shooting but I do understand that without being able to increase my ISO, shooting in low light is very difficult. I wasn't feeling much inspiration today until I looked out to see my hubby working diligently on grilling up our burgers for dinner as I was making the side dishes inside. I just look at him and he still gives me butterflies. I am so grateful for this man. Day One Hundred Seven: On The Side | Walk By | Nearby
This prompt had me look at my surroundings. I am here very often (this is my dad's garage, specifically, the corner that houses his Harley and all the supplies that requires). I never really looked at this corner other than to observe it as a place my dad loves. He loves to come out here and tinker away on many projects. Today, my mom and I helped spruce up some garage signs that had gotten sun-faded with some fresh paint. Looking in the garage I saw the magenta sign there on the side and then realized how beautiful this corner is. Dad got a little worried because he said it was messy but I insisted that he leave it because this is real.
Day One Hundred Five: Vibrant | Color | Lively | Vivid
I was struggling with ideas for today's prompt until Eve asked me if I would paint her fingers and she wanted "RAINBOW colors." I pulled out all the colors we own and she picked the order they would go on her fingers and toes to match. I am so grateful for her creativity and how vibrant and colorful she is. She is a very lively little girl and loves vivid colors ~ very unlike me who likes to stick to the basics. Day One Hundred Four: Pocket-Sized | Miniature | Pint-Sized | Small
It was a fun prompt today... It gave me a minute to pull out my daughter's box of Legos and I got to set up my own little scene to play with. Little fuzzy kitty needed to go visit the groomers today. A good brush and fluff and she was as good as new and feeling feline fresh! :) Day One Hundred Three: Distant | Far | Secluded | Wide
One of the best things during my morning walks now ~ besides visiting with my lovely neighbor Michelle ~ is being awake to witness the beautiful sunrises. I usually miss out on these and God's handiwork never disappoints! (Cell shot - I added a matte preset that I thought was pretty and soft considering it was such a dark photo).

Danette Badger
This is the second time I have taken on this challenge. I completed a 365 in 2014 - took 2015 off and decided that this year I wanted to do another challenge. I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I am kicking myself that I didn't do a challenge in 2015 so this is me getting back into doing something I enjoy so very much! Archives
