I attended this years World Wide Photo Walk which took place in Wadena, MN. It was a beautiful and hazy morning and I enjoyed spending the time walking with my hubby and my dog, Fuji. The first two years I attended the walk we went to Staples (2013) and then to Pillager (2014). Last year (2015), a walk didn't take place close to home so I didn't attend that annual contest. Each year I have gone, I have met wonderfully talented photographers and we spend the time walking or driving around just taking photos of things that catch our eye. It's so much fun to see what everyone submits and the creativity that we all exhibit in our own unique ways. Each year, in each city, I learn something new about the area in which I have grown up. (Wadena is just a half hour from my childhood home). The thing that stood out to me the most from this beautiful town is the Puzzle Alley. I researched this and this is what I found: Wadena is considered the "Gateway to the North" and the place where small town friendliness and big city culture come together. In 2010 Wadena was forced to rebuild its neighborhoods following devastating tornados. According to the town website, Wadena is considered a community "Where the Prairie meets the Woodlands." The town has a diverse culture and has an art-deco downtown art display called "Murals of Minnesota" or "World's Largest Puzzle" which showcases 1,000 years of Minnesota history. These are my favorites from the "Worlds Largest Puzzle" More city photos I prefer nature photography so we took a small drive around the outskirts of town and found these beautiful areas to photograph. Remember those tornados I mentioned above - well that devastation hit a cemetery and while walking through this beautiful and loved piece of land, we found many broken and pushed over headstones. Some have been fixed and others are still broken. I am already looking forward to next year!
