Early on in my photography journey I was contacted by a wonderful lady who asked me to photograph her two girls. We became friends. She and her hubby added a baby boy to their family and she still has me capture her happy family. I love these times with her. I get to see her crazy sweet kids and we get to visit and catch up on our lives and how we have been. It's a win-win!
These two are my second cousins. They are both adopted into our family and man do we love them so much! So glad they are family. They are so much fun to play with and I am so spoiled to be the one to take these photos.
I met this wonderful lady at her place of business quite some time ago. We discovered, after she found out my last name, that her husband worked with my father-in-law. She retired from her job a few years ago and still, she decided to seek me out to capture these happy memories of her with her family. I was thrilled to hear from her. She has the sweetest family! It was such a beautiful day to spend by the water.
I met this beautiful bride when I took my cousin's wedding photos last year. She was in the bridal party for my cousin and now my cousin is in this wedding too. They have such a great friendship and I am so honored that they both trusted me to capture one of the most significant days in their lives.
Today was a PERFECT day for an outdoor wedding. The temperature was great and the sun was shining... It was just perfect.
They had the most beautiful spot to get ready - a resort on Upper Red Lake. Luke proposed while they were fishing on that lake. It was a special spot for sure. I started by going back and forth between the cabins where the girls were getting ready and then to the cabin where the guys were getting ready. I always love standing back and hearing the happy conversations that take place during this time.
They had the best people surrounding them on this big day. It was a gorgeous group and I loved the colors that the bride and groom selected for their wedding colors. Some of these were taken pre ceremony before the bride and groom saw each other and the others were taken after the ceremony.
Bride and Groom
I am so blessed to have shared the beginning of this couple's life together. I wish you both nothing but the best in the years to come! May your marriage be the beginning of the best years of your life.
I am so lucky to have a day off each week. Today was a perfect opportunity to travel 1.5 hours to my best friend's house to meet her new little girl after sending my three babies off to school. I am almost two weeks behind in meeting her so this was especially special. Of course, I had to take my camera and capture this little beauties newness. She is PRECIOUS!! I am only sorry that I couldn't stay longer and love her up more!
Back in April 2016 the proposal happened like this: The Groom brought his future Bride to the movie Beauty and the Beast at a dinner theater and then afterwards, took her to their favorite pier where he asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She said yes!
Fast forward to today, June 3, 2017 ~ This is all about them:
When I arrived at the residence where the bridal party was getting ready, I started with the guys and what a great group they are! The Groom is from Indiana and three of his groomsmen traveled up here for this big day.
Next I got to spend time with the ladies! Mom and big sister were getting the bride ready for her day and I loved watching them together. Mom assisted her last baby get ready for her wedding and there was a lot of emotion in that room after she finished getting her buttoned up.
I thought it was neat that the bridesmaids never saw the bride's dress! When she came out and showed her girls how stunning she is it resulted in even more emotion and tears of JOY! There were a lot of happy tears today!
Look at these two! Such a beautiful bride and such a handsome groom!
The groom insisted on NOT seeing his bride until she walked toward him down the aisle but we did squeeze in this fun shot of the whole bridal party before we traveled to the venue.
Once we arrived at the venue we did a lot of photos of the families with the bride and groom separate. These are the last photos they will have with their family before they became Mr. and Mrs. The Bride is the youngest of 6 and she is the last one to wed. Her Mom and Dad will officially give away their last baby to the love of her life and now they get to sit back and just continue to watch their family grow. The Groom is the oldest of three in his family and the first to get married before his younger sisters.
The couple exchanged their vows overlooking Lake Pepin in Lake City, MN. With the stunning backdrop taken care of by God's handiwork, this couple didn't need to do anything to add to it as far as decoration. With the addition of who they are as a couple and the wonderful family and friends that surrounded them today - it brought this wedding to a level of absolute perfection!
After the ceremony we spent some more time taking family photos with the new Mr. and Mrs. Each family grew by one today and you could just feel how elated everyone was about that fact!
After the family photos, the bridal party traveled to the pier where the proposal happened and we captured this happy group at another beautiful location. We also took some at the venue as well.
The bridal party traveled back to the venue and the bride and groom spent some intimate moments as husband and wife. I loved this time with them. They really focused on each other today. The way a wedding should be!
The reception was such an elegant affair! With a delicious meal served, happy guests visiting, plenty of glass clinking to prompt the bride and groom to kiss, heartfelt speeches from the maid-of-honor and best man, everything was absolutely wonderful.
The happy couple cut me loose just after the meal was done and speeches were given. (I had a 3.5 hour drive). It was such a lovely day and I am so glad I was there to share it with them. I know I shared a LOT of photos but there were just too many memories that I wanted to share from this beautiful day. I am lucky because this beautiful bride's big sister is one of my very best friends. She and I have been in each other's life for about 17 years. Big sis let little sis know of my love of photography so she looked at some past events I have done and she decided to trust me with the most important day of her life. I am so grateful! Being able to spend the day with my best friend's family and see the joy of such a happy occasion - well, there are just no words to the excitement I felt!
I am so happy for you both and I pray that your life together is a long and happy one! Congratulations!
Oh how I love this little guy! I would ask him to do something and he would say "no thanks." That made his mom and I giggle but did prove to be difficult to get him to look at me for a couple of seconds to get a good shot. I found that just letting him run around in the falling snow was opportunity enough to capture some happy photos of this beautiful little boy.
Last year at a motorcycle rally, I provided a certificate for photos as a raffle item. This beautiful little girl's grandma won the certificate and gave it to her mom and dad who called me to redeem it today. I was thrilled to play with a baby girl for a couple of hours! It's been many years since I have held a little one! Isn't she beautiful!?!?
Back in 2013 Tiffany asked me to come out and spend time taking photos of her with her insanely cute dog, Cece. That was my very FIRST "professional" photoshoot! It's an extremely memorable shoot and I was so grateful that she asked me to come back. This time it was to capture her with her family. We spent the day running in and out of the house trying to keep warm but we did manage to capture some happy, beautiful memories of this fun family!
This beautiful little blue eyed baby is almost ONE year old! I have been so lucky to capture a few milestones for this little lady - her newborn photos, her 6 month photos, and now, as she is coming close to her big ONE year - well, I just have to say how much I have loved watching her grow. She is such a sweet little girl!
She is just starting to walk - with the help of mom and dad of course. The chilly air wasn't going to slow her down one bit! I think she would have led mom and dad all the way down their long driveway if she had her way about it. We kept her busy though, like posing next to the awesome Christmas tree that her mommy made, and posing on that vintage sled, and then on the back deck with some pretty necklaces that looked better in her mouth than on her neck (according to Kenley of course). Mommy was pretty funny too as she was jumping around behind me making that sweet girl giggle. I am still smiling from the time I got to spend with this little beauty! They grow so fast! I miss this age...
I love you guys! Thank you for sharing you little princess with me!
How lucky am I to have such a gorgeous family! That's my brother and his wife and munchkins. This was actually a two-part photo shoot because the first day we got together it was quite chilly and even my camera protested a bit so we didn't get all the photos we wanted to then. Part two allowed us to do a bit more - even if it was just as quick as part one because the kids wanted to run off to play with their cousins. It wound up being a great day together playing in the snow.
These two found each other in such a fun way and I can tell how happy they are together. I became friends with that gentleman about 15 years ago and time and life pushed us in different directions so I was SO thrilled when his lovely lady asked about doing photos and he said to find me. It almost didn't work to get together this afternoon but it sounded like this was their last opportunity for quite some time to get some photos together and I really wanted to be able to capture these for them. That handsome little man was SO easy to work with and had some great ideas and had mom crawling all over the place in her cute shoes. They were all such good sports and we had a lot of fun! Thank you guys for spending the time with me. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did taking them. It's so great to catch up with old friends and meet new friends in the process.
This beautiful girl is graduating next year! And... she is the third sister I have had the pleasure of photographing for graduation photos. She changed this up for her photos because instead of doing them at her home, she decided to change up the scenery a bit and we got to spend time at a beautiful park for a couple of hours and then we went to her aunt's house where we took photos of her and her cousin that she loves to help babysit. I always have so much fun with these girls! (She is my cousin too)! :)
These two have so much fun together! And you may recognize that cute little man from other photo shoots I have done. I love this family!
I am so spoiled! I have been able to take photos of this guy for a few different occasions and each time I see him he gets cuter and cuter. I mean - look at those beautiful big brown eyes! He's going to be a heartbreaker! Mommy was able to get such sweet smiles today from her little man which melted my heart - there is nothing like the love of a little boy. We started with a date at the park where Ethan sat and played with his friends Pooh and Tigger and with his other big teddy bear friends.
After the park, mom and I decided to go get a bite to eat and Ethan got to have lunch himself which made for an extremely happy boy! I couldn't resist having mom set him down to capture more of his happy smiles - it was a wonderful Friday afternoon and I look forward to visiting with mom and her beautiful babies again soon!
This was the craziest place to take photos! When we finally made our schedules work to meet on this beautiful Fall day we were anticipating gorgeous Fall colors to go along with it. The drive getting to the park where we met was absolutely breathtaking - I mean the trees were FULL and BRIGHT and absolutely PICTURESQUE! The strange thing about this, though, is when we drove into the park it was as if a heavy wind blew all the trees bare - and in the PARK only! It was crazy! It wasn't completely clear and there were a few spots that we knew would still be very nice as far as backgrounds. Still, we had a very nice time exploring this beautiful park. The weather was perfect! Besides, this family would have made a thunderstorm look beautiful just because they are all so good looking!
The boys were having so much fun and wanted me to capture many different poses and had awesome ideas that showcased their creativity and fun-loving personalities. Such handsome young men! And so polite and so much fun to hang out with!
The little guy (Mr. Blond and Blue Eyes) is actually a classmate of my sons and I work with mom. Being able to capture happy moments like this for my friends and their families is why I do this! We get to spend extra time together and they leave with lasting memories that I hope they will treasure for years and years!
I was blessed to have not one - but TWO families to photograph today! I did a bit of traveling in between the two but that only allowed me to enjoy the gorgeous colors of Fall even more.
This family are also friends of ours and our children go to school together. That beautiful little girl is in my daughters dance class too. We did this shoot right on their property and man did they have the most spectacular opportunities for some breathtaking backgrounds... A pond, corn fields, the trails throughout their land, and, of course, all the natural foliage! Then, you place four good looking people and the most fun and playful puppy in front of those natural backgrounds and masterpieces are created!
Thank you guys for having me to your home to capture these special moments for you!
I attended this years World Wide Photo Walk which took place in Wadena, MN. It was a beautiful and hazy morning and I enjoyed spending the time walking with my hubby and my dog, Fuji.
The first two years I attended the walk we went to Staples (2013) and then to Pillager (2014). Last year (2015), a walk didn't take place close to home so I didn't attend that annual contest.
Each year I have gone, I have met wonderfully talented photographers and we spend the time walking or driving around just taking photos of things that catch our eye. It's so much fun to see what everyone submits and the creativity that we all exhibit in our own unique ways.
Each year, in each city, I learn something new about the area in which I have grown up. (Wadena is just a half hour from my childhood home). The thing that stood out to me the most from this beautiful town is the Puzzle Alley. I researched this and this is what I found:
Wadena is considered the "Gateway to the North" and the place where small town friendliness and big city culture come together. In 2010 Wadena was forced to rebuild its neighborhoods following devastating tornados. According to the town website, Wadena is considered a community "Where the Prairie meets the Woodlands." The town has a diverse culture and has an art-deco downtown art display called "Murals of Minnesota" or "World's Largest Puzzle" which showcases 1,000 years of Minnesota history.
These are my favorites from the "Worlds Largest Puzzle"
More city photos
I prefer nature photography so we took a small drive around the outskirts of town and found these beautiful areas to photograph.
Remember those tornados I mentioned above - well that devastation hit a cemetery and while walking through this beautiful and loved piece of land, we found many broken and pushed over headstones. Some have been fixed and others are still broken.
I am already looking forward to next year!
David and Ashley's Aunt contacted me to capture this Friday afternoon ceremony and I was thrilled to be able to make it work in my schedule to do it for them. It was such a bright and sunny day and the weather was absolutely perfect! Thank you for letting me see the deep love you share for one another. I could just feel it radiate off of you two! You two know how to have fun and I shared a lot of laughs with this couple throughout the afternoon.
What a beautiful backdrop to a special day!
The Bride's dad had the most wonderful and heartfelt advice for this couple during the ceremony and David surprised his bride with a stunning wedding ring! Well done David!
I had so much fun wandering around and chatting with the people who love this couple and who came to celebrate with them. They sure have such a support group around them which is a huge blessing!
The Bride & Groom
This couple was SO much fun! This was the first time I met both of them and they were so personable and easy going which made my job so easy! Not to mention how gorgeous of a couple they are! I mean - look at these two!
Thank you again! I am so very happy for you both and wish you nothing but happiness in your life together as husband and wife!
I was asked by this young woman to do her graduation photos and since she works at a zoo - we got to go there and use these special creatures that are close to her heart in her photos! (BIG bonus for me)!!
Not only will this beauty be graduating high school at the end of this 2016-2017 school year, but she will also have her AA degree from college as she has done post secondary education for both her junior and now senior year. Smart girl! And like I said - she has such a bright future!
These are some of my favorites from our time at the zoo.
After the zoo we went to her house to finish capturing some fun ideas that dad wanted to get. It was such a beautiful evening and little sis even joined us for a couple of photos.
I first met this young man back in October of 2013 when his mom contacted me to take some family photos and then we got together again in June of 2014 for some more. You can imagine my excitement when Nick's mom contacted me once again a couple of months ago asking if I would take his graduation photos! UMMM. YES!! I was very excited to see them again! We had so much fun tonight. The weather was perfect - we weren't bugged too much by the mosquitoes - and we were done in less than an hour - which was the only request of the young graduate. Thank you for visiting with me! I always have so much fun when I see you guys! These are some of my favorites from today.
It is with great excitement that I finally get to share this beautiful little girl with you! She was officially adopted on April 15 this year and is now a member of our family! I have been so lucky to be a part of this little lady's life because she is MY family! Arrionna is our second cousin and she captured all of our hearts the moment she was brought home to Bob and Shannon - and what an amazing blessing that was! Not only did she get two amazing parents - but she also got a big brother, Haydien, who Bob and Shannon also adopted. I have been photographing this little beauty for quite some time now and I am so excited that I can share these with you now!
The most recent photos I took of Onna was today for her one year photos. We met at a beach and after we did the cutesy stuff - we went wild and splashed and played in the water! Onna thought that was the best part. One fun memory I was able to capture was Onna standing on her own without using anything to help pull her up! Mommy, you are going to have a little girl running around in no time!
Here are some of this little princess from back in November 2015
Oh! I am so excited to share these! My cousin, Katie, married her love, Marc, on this beautiful Saturday in White Bear Lake MN. The best thing about being family, is that I get to be a guest on top of being able to have a good excuse to run around and see everything and be everywhere and watch all the festivities of the day. Katie and Marc planned this wedding in such a way that really represented who they are as a couple. I took this photo of them last Christmas Eve which was the day AFTER Marc proposed! (I'll share that story in a bit)... We were so excited to share that happy news last Christmas for sure. I am pretty sure I screamed a little bit when she showed me her hand with that beautiful engagement ring on it!
Katie and Marc met through a dating app called Tinder (how cool is that)?!? and their first official date was on 9/16/14. Katie told me about the date and man were they busy! They went out to eat, went fishing, cleaned fish, and then watched the movie Grumpy Old Men. (Who doesn't like that movie)?? Throughout their dating years Marc taught Katie how to grouse and duck hunt and also how to spearfish! Like I said before, Marc proposed on 12/23/15. They were celebrating their own Christmas together without the families. Katie was so excited about her gift to Marc and thought she would beat anything he gave her because she bought them Wild Tickets. However, he blew her out of the water when he first presented her with a kitchen aid stand-mixer, and second, with a ring box. He had wrapped it and placed it in her stocking to open last. WOW!! Way to go Marc! You are quite the thoughtful and romantic guy! I asked Katie to share some funny stories and the things she listed were their "many shenanigans together, such as building duck blinds, the camper/fish house stories, tires going flat on the boat trailers, becoming puppy-parents, etc." I am sure you can imagine how funny the 'long versions' of those stories would be. I know I can!
Fast forward to the big day, July 16. The invitations have been sent, the RSVP's have been counted, the day is here and it is time to get married! Happy wedding day you two! You both looked amazing and I was so happy to be there!
I arrived early to meet up with the guys first as they were getting ready and we did some awesome group shots. Marc had some pretty amazing guys standing up with him. Steve (best man) and Marc went to high school together and have been best buddies ever since. Dan is Steve's older brother, and became good friends with Marc through hanging out with Steve. Alex and Marc met at college and became good friends through fishing. Jake and the groom also went to high school together and remained good friends as well. The ushers are Jim who is Marc's cousin and Joe, Katie's older brother.
These guys were so much fun! I am going to remember the short hour I had with them for the rest of my life! They had me giggling quite a bit. Great group of guys ~ and they sure were handsome in their suits!
After shooting at Marc's dad's house with the guys, I needed to get to the church to meet the girls as they arrived. Katie stepped out of the car and gave me that huge and happy smile ~ glowing is how I would describe her here!
Katie's bridesmaids were absolutely lovely! Carissa (matron of honor) and Katie went to school together and knew each other through their dad's who were friends. They became even better friends in college. Sarah, Lea, and Kayla all became good friends with the bride through work. They are all RNs. Sarah and Kayla still work with Katie but Lea moved and now works in the cities but they stay in touch.
Katie sure knew what she was doing when she asked these gorgeous ladies to stand with her. They were attentive and helpful. Anything she needed, she had assistance. The exact thing that a bridesmaid should be. This was also very fun - just walking with the girls and getting some fun shots. A good picture is easy to take when the subjects are so breathtaking!
Of course the mothers of the bride and groom were in close proximity - always ready to lend a helping hand as necessary.
Katie and Marc wanted a traditional wedding - one where the groom doesn't see his bride before she walks down the isle toward him. Priceless!
After the ceremony the families stayed close to get group shots. Katie and Marc are so blessed to have such supportive and loving people surrounding them on this happy day in their life!
First photos of Mr. & Mrs. Heuer with their bridal party!
Last but not least, the reception. A delicious meal, amazing cake, good conversation, lots of clicking of the glasses to get the bride and groom to kiss, dancing, bouquet toss and garter throw... Did I mention dancing? How about yummy drinks that make the dancing easier? Especially as the night goes on. I know those yummy drinks make me feel like dancing more. (Giggle). I enjoyed this day SO very much! I get to move around and everyone knows what I'm doing and that gives me permission to witness things in different ways... I get to experience a happy couple's biggest day of their life!
Congratulations you two! I pray that your life as husband and wife blesses you both beyond anything you could have imagined! Thank you for sharing your day with me!
I had the privilege of photographing this little princess when she was just a newborn. She is 6 months old already and isn't she pretty?!?! We enjoyed this sunny day capturing Kenley's 6 month milestone and also got a FIVE generation photo with her great-great-grandma, her great-grandma, grandma, and her daddy. What a special memory for them. It's not often that little ones have those special people close enough to capture a memory like that so I was extremely thrilled that I was able to get that documented for them. Thank you guys, once again, for sharing your little angel with me! I enjoyed our visit and seeing how big Kenley has gotten already!
Six Month Old Beauty
Photos With Mommy and Daddy
Let me tell you a story about three girls who were the best of friends... Two of those girls were sisters and lived right down the road and we were inseparable for many, many summers growing up. After all our chores were done I would ride my bike to their house and the three of us would go a bit further down the road to a resort to swim. We did this every single day. Not only that, but we had sleepovers all the time and I also remember making bracelets and necklaces with embroidery floss with them as well. This friendship slowly just lost touch. Nothing serious, of course! The sisters were older than I was so they graduated before me and started their lives earlier than I could.
Fast forward to about 6 years ago when one of the sisters married her handsome hubby. I was able to get to the ceremony (which was beautiful) so I could at least say hello to my friends there.
Time and distance passed us once again until 3 or 4 months ago when I was contacted on FB and was asked if I would be willing to possibly do photos for their dad's upcoming wedding. Lo-and-behold, their dad did contact me which brings me to this event.. this breathtaking wedding on this beautiful spring day!
Pre-Ceremony and Details
With this ring, I thee wed
The ceremony took place on the first green at a beautiful golf course right down the road where I grew up with those sisters. This was an intimate affair where the bride and groom were surrounded by just their children (with spouses) and the bride's mom. The ceremony was presided by the bride's oldest son. It was perfect!
Post Ceremony Family Photos
Today was a day of complete elegance! Every detail carried out was absolutely stunning! It was simple, sweet, casual, and brought a happy couple together celebrating with family and friends. I love being behind a camera for these sorts of events because I have the best excuse to wander around and watch as people catch up and laugh and just have fun.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to capture this day for these special people! It was such an awesome thing to have the chance to catch up with my great friends and their family. I am so happy for Leo, finding his beautiful bride! I pray that their new life together as husband and wife is filled with blessing upon blessing! Thank you both for allowing me to share this with you!
The best thing about this experience of calling myself a photographer has, hands down, been the opportunity for me to meet new people and better yet - to create awesome friendships out of these sessions. That is what has happened for me and this family. So, after capturing some photos of her gorgeous kids - mom and I got to visit and laugh and have a good time while our kids all played together at the park where we were. Aren't these kids beautiful!?!?
