365/365 ~ Signs Of A Year Ending
I have spent FIVE amazing years with the Capture Your 365 community. What does this mean?? It means that I successfully captured a total of 1,826 photos - on prompt or off prompt. Since January 1, 2014 I have taken a total of 2,117 photos all together! 2014 = 365, 2015 = 291 (this is the year I tried my own thing and just wasn't as successful), 2016 = 366 (an extra day for leap year), 2017 = 365, 2018 = 365, 2019 = 365!! I have gotten 74 features since 2016 and also had the honor of a Behind the Scenes feature on the CY365 blog in March of 2018! Katrina Kennedy is a blessing in this girls life! She created this platform to help others cultivate their love of photography and used her own talent to help teach and challenge us all to become better behind the camera. In my own photography journey I have discovered what it means to truly observe and slow down and just be present in each and every moment of my life. I am so unbelievably grateful to the entire CY365 family! We have gotten to know each other so well through this community that Katrina started all those years ago. It’s hard to put it all into words... so, THANK YOU!! (Bonus photo today shows exactly what 2,117 photos look like all together... it’s incredible)!!!

364/365 ~ What You Notice | A Glance | Something Small | A Detail
We had a crazy winter storm all weekend ~ it was a constant rain/snow mixture for almost 3 days straight. Luna and I made it on our walk today and I noticed all these beautiful little drops frozen on the branches of all the trees. Such small little details that help glisten up this already glorious white world.
363/365 ~ Gratitude | Thank You | Looking Back | Appreciation The act of gratitude takes a lot of practice if you think about it. And thinking about it is half the battle. Gratitude is a choice ~ it takes a lot of effort! As I come the the last three days with CY365 I chose to be grateful for all that the last 5 years has taught me. For me I am grateful for the family I have grown to love, the friendships I have created, the ways I have gotten to know myself in such a deeper way, the way I have learned to slow down and enjoy this life, and for the growth in my photography skills. Not to mention the total of 1,826 daily photos I have taken over a 5 year span. Am I grateful?? You bet I am!! I got this journal as a Christmas gift from a coworker in 2016. She gifted this to our entire team as a reminder to just be grateful ~ as grudgingly as that can be sometimes... 362/365 ~ Oh Christmas Tree | Bright | Colorful | Festive
I actually had to dig this out of the Christmas decorations today because just last night they were all packed up. This is a fun decoration because it actually changes colors, from white, to blue, to green to red. 361/365 ~ Warm | Cozy | Comfort | Relaxing
I have been battling a head cold since Christmas and today is the first day I have wanted to eat anything. So glad we at least had a can of soup in the cupboard to make... 360/365 ~ On The Diagonal | Just a Part | Corner to Corner | One Item
My favorite Christmas treat. I absolutely love the story of the Candy Cane and this poem: Look at a CANDY CANE, what do you see? Stripes that are RED like the BLOOD shed for me! WHITE for my Savior, Who's sinless and pure! "J" is for JESUS, MY LORD that's for sure! Turn it around and a staff you will see --- Jesus, my SHEPHERD, is coming for me! 359/365 ~ Together | Chaos | Presents | Capture the Moment
Happy, HAPPY babies today! Merry Christmas! We spent Christmas Eve yesterday with my family. We did stop by Great-Grandma's last night to see her and some extended family last night. This morning we are going to have our Christmas and then get to my husband's side for Christmas festivities. And that's it. It's always a whirlwind couple of days but we get it all done in two days and then we can just enjoy the gifts we are so blessed to receive. (That's Luna's little ear on the bottom of the photo). 358/365 ~ Flatlay Tree | Potpourri | Spices | Warmth
No flatlay but a necessary photo today. I first took this same pose in 2014. I didn't get one in 2015 but have taken this same pose since 2016. This photo is the fifth one and they are so cute! I shared the other photos as well just for fun. I plan to keep this one going as long as they live here. The only difference is that Blake was in the middle in the 2014 photo and Gavin has been in the middle from 2016 until now. 357/365 ~ Direction | Movement | Choices | Story
Does it count to have this as my photo for the day? It is the only thing I did as far as photos go and seeing as it's a collage of my Top Nine on IG for the year, I do think it counts! It's interesting to see which ones make it into this square at the end of the year. Some are absolutely my favorite and I would chose them to be here and the others are more so-so to me. This year coming up will be an exciting one and my only goal is to always keep moving forward with everything in my life. 356/365 ~ Diagonals and Triangles | Shapes | Stripes | Angles
We drove 129 miles one way tonight to explore Bentleyville in Duluth. It was a spur of the moment idea and I am so glad we did! This was incredible and the time spent with just the 5 of us was priceless! |
Danette BadgerThis is my FIFTH challenge! I completed an entire 365 in 2014. In 2015, I tried to do something different and failed miserably so after finishing 2016 successfully I just had to keep going in 2017 and 2018! I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I enjoy this challenge very much and I am looking forward to seeing what 2019 brings! Archives
