Day Two Hundred Sixty Three: Games | Family Time | Amusement | Hobby
It seems that the majority of the games that we own have one thing in common ~ DICE. We have so many DICE! Dice for our board games, card games and just dice games. This pile of dice live in our "junk" drawer that my kids like to pull out here and there just to roll around on the kitchen floor and make up their own games. Dice sure do open up opportunities for lots of family time around my household. Day Two Hundred Sixty Two: Play | Silly | Goofy | Fun
We spent the weekend with this wonderful family at their cabin. It was a weekend FULL of play. The kids enjoyed many board games and card games and building things with Legos and making forts outside. The big guys played with their guns shooting targets (the little guys joined in on that fun too). Us moms enjoyed the relaxing fire and just visited. It was a great weekend as usual! Day Two Hundred Sixty One: Food Prep | Scene | Laid Out | Arrangement
The bees are busy preparing for their winter storage... I did some research of how much prep bees must do before the cold sets in. Studies have found that hives of honeybees will consume up to 30 pounds of honey over a single winter. The average worker bee only produces only about 1/2 teaspoon of honey during their lifetime. To make ONE POUND of honey, the bees must visit 2 MILLION flowers!! WOW huh? I thought that was pretty amazing! Talk about food prep!
Day Two Hundred Fifty Nine:
Cheerful | Bright | Lively | Chipper I am actually not having a very cheerful day... I went and ran errands today (by myself for the first time since Eve is now in school full time) which was fine ~ but I did miss our time together... When I got home I discovered that two of my rose buds were CUT off of my rose bush and the petals were thrown all over my yard. So frustrated about that! I just don't understand why someone would do that. Anyway, one thing that did make me happy today was looking outside at my deck and these pretty little guys are still blooming! Tomorrow will be a better day! Day Two Hundred Fifty Eight: Spotlight | Fame | Limelight | Lego
Remember Monday when I mentioned that I went to a hair appointment with my mom? Well, the person who does my hair is my cousin and we do trades. I take photos of her munchkins and in return, she keeps my hair looking fabulous. On Monday, when I got there, there was a special gift that she said was waiting at the front desk for me. (It was from her munchkins to their "favorite photographer." The note she wrote on behalf of her babies brought tears to my eyes). This was the gift. A Scentsy warmer that's called Still Frame - isn't it awesome! I was so thrilled! I knew I wanted to use it for something and loved the idea of "spotlight" today because of the lights that come out of the warmer and then, sitting at my desk today, with the sun pouring in the window creating that beautiful bokeh through the screen - I thought it was pretty perfect. (And it still fits into the yellow color week)! Day Two Hundred Fifty Seven:
Found and Foraged | Gather | Explore | Collect I wandered around outside while my boys were at Taekwondo and I found a pretty little flower... Then I explored some more and found these abandoned railroad tracks to use as another part of my subject and I am very happy with the results. It's getting to be nicer and nicer out as the weather is getting cooler and I enjoyed my alone time very much tonight. Day Two Hundred Fifty Six:
Fall Favorite | Flower | Fall | Sunshine I was able to get to the salon today with my mom so my prime, sunshiny part of the day was spent getting my hair done. When I finally found the opportunity to capture a photo today, I was under a steady drizzle of rain. These pretty leaves are changing color and I loved seeing the little spots of rain. That's my favorite part of fall ~ the season of change. The beauty of the leaves as their colors change before they fall and die ~ only to recharge for the winter before growing again in spring. Day Two Hundred Fifty Five: School Bus Yellow
No school buses traveling on this Sunday but when I do think of back to school time, I always think of cooler days, cozy sweaters, walks without bugs, and leaves changing colors. I did enjoy a nice walk today with my daughter and we found many beautiful flowers still in bloom. This pretty yellow one stood out nicely against this partially changed leaf and I am even more ready for Fall! |

This is the second time I have taken on this challenge. I completed a 365 in 2014 - took 2015 off and decided that this year I wanted to do another challenge. I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I am kicking myself that I didn't do a challenge in 2015 so this is me getting back into doing something I enjoy so very much! Archives
