Day Twenty-one: Backlit
It's been a BUSY week already and today has felt like Friday all day. It's not, of course, so my hubby poured me a glass of wine while he had a beer and we visited at the table a bit after dinner. I liked how the kitchen light lit up my glass. Just a nice relaxing way to end the day.

Day Twenty: Under{study}... I had so many ideas today! Legos under foot, my kitten who likes to hide under my bed and attack my feet as I pass by, the beauty that we woke up to today after Jack Frost was busy last night covering our part of the country with icy flakes. I couldn't resist getting out to explore how beautiful our day was so after picking up my daughter from school (her brothers had basketball practice), instead of going back home to work, I decided to take her out and let her snap some photos with me. She was thrilled that she was using my old camera and she was so careful with it. Every photo she took she insisted that I look at it right away and she has got some serious skill. I had many favorites from today's outdoor exploration but I can't resist making THIS photo my POTD because it just screams to me. Those little hands holding that big camera and how serious she was when pushing that shutter release - it melts me to the core! She preferred to stay in the truck and just take photos out the window to stay warm as I was walking around. She was being so sweet with me and kept saying "oh! This one is great!" and "Mommy, are you ok?" I was always within sight and we were chatting the whole time. MEMORIES made here! :) These are all Eve! Her special flare on her photos I just love! She already has a creative eye and I was so happy to go through these. Maybe I will finally have a photography buddy who will go and spend hours with me just snapping photos! So proud of my little Understudy. I had to share these extras from today (these are the ones I took) because I loved exploring with my daughter and we saw some pretty amazing sights today. EVERYTHING was covered in WHITE!! (yes, I did include the silly Legos under foot idea too)... Day Nineteen: I didn't have an opportunity to capture my image today with natural light. It was a gloomy day outside and when I leave in the morning it's dark and when I get home it's dark... I did want to capture what life has been for me recently... I have been putting in 10-12 hour days in front of a computer screen at work because we have a big deadline at the end of the month. When I get to shut down all that work stuff that pays the bills, I finally get to do something I enjoy - which, unfortunately means even more computer time. Oh well, such is life. :)
Day Sixteen - Sepia - Creating a Mood
I have always loved fires and watching flames. Either a campfire or candle - there is something very calming and relaxing about them. I have been going crazy cleaning my house today and found this forgotten candle in a cupboard so I had to light it. This has a wick that sounds like wood crackling. So, not only is the flame relaxing, the sound this is creating is wonderful to listen to as well - not to mention the beautiful aroma this is giving off too. I have been moving this from room to room to let the smell travel throughout my house and this was taken in front of my bathroom mirror. Day Fifteen: Pride&Joy is what my husband felt today when my boys received their first compound bows (an early birthday present - daddy couldn't wait to give them these)! My son, Blake, was so happy, he looked at his bow, set it down and walked away. He was trying to hide his tears - he was so blown away. Then, before dinner during our prayers, Blake was only able to say, "Lord, thank you for my bow... I can't finish..." Tears came again. When daddy was asked to say his prayers - daddy couldn't either - he was bursting with Pride&Joy that his son was showing as much excitement and gratitude for this new gift as daddy was hoping he would. Gavin is the sort of boy who jumps up and down when he is happy about a new present and that was how he showed us his excitement. This is not the photo that was I hoping to get but this was a late photo and I just didn't take enough time to capture much better than this. This was my real life today.
Day Fourteen: Black and White ~ the sunset was amazing tonight. It was a huge ball in the sky and this doesn't do it justice at all. (Do you see it at the bottom of the picture?) Quick photo before dance class tonight.
Day Thirteen: Mostly White - My furry baby was quite confused this morning. I would tell her to go down the steps to the deck - so she would go down. Then she would sit there waiting for me to tell her to come up and then she would come up. We have been waking up to -20 degrees for the last three days so we had to make it really fast. Poor girl has frozen paws so quickly in this cold. This wound up being my favorite even though her ears aren't in focus. I had to take the short amount of time to do my POTD because we run until about 8:00 tonight between basketball practice and then AWANA's at church.
Day Twelve: She thinks she's just coloring. But with each line she traces and each picture she colors she is learning like crazy. I love this age - she is a sponge right now and she is so willing to try new things and practice until she is a pro. She was more than willing to be my model today doing her "homework" next to her brothers who do their homework at the table as well. It's an after school routine for us.

Danette Badger
This is the second time I have taken on this challenge. I completed a 365 in 2014 - took 2015 off and decided that this year I wanted to do another challenge. I am part of an amazing group of talented photographers who post an image from an interpretation of a prompt that we receive every day in our e-mail. It's so neat to see how differently a person perceives a simple word or concept and how they translate that into a photograph. I am kicking myself that I didn't do a challenge in 2015 so this is me getting back into doing something I enjoy so very much! Archives
