Day 1/365: Celebrate! I love images that tell stories or project a symbolic meaning. To start off my challenge of taking a photo every single day, I wanted to start with the tradition of our New Year as a celebration. For those of you who know me personally, I love water. To me, water is symbolic with emotion, instinct, fluency, and moving in sync with the currents of life. Water takes on a suspended state when frozen. For me, seeing an icicle frozen on ledges or sills is a reminder to be still, slow down, cool off, hang out, and reduce emotions from a full-fledged flood to a more "drip-drip" pace. A lot of us may be celebrating the completion of another year or we have decided to throw away the past and celebrate what the New Year will bring. This photo represents change. Every drop of water that touches this icicle will either add to it or take away from it. Every day that passes us this year will have those "drips" that either add to our life or take away from our life. What's important to remember as we celebrate the beginning of a New Year is that this icicle will never be again. It will disappear once it gets warmer. It's up to us to decide which drips we want to affect us and which drips we want to just let go. Go celebrate life.

I have taken on a challenge to take one photo a day for this entire year. I have been excited to join up with an amazing community of talented photographers who have also taken on this challenge. The goals I have for myself this year is to, first of all, complete the whole year of 365 photos. I also want to allow this challenge to teach me all I can about the equipment I have in order to better myself as a photographer. I am excited to learn and experience so much this year through this challenge. Thank you for taking the time to look through my journey. It truly means a lot to me. Archives
