82/365 ~ Saying Goodbye | She Is Tired | Letting Go | Our Last Ride Together
On September 12, 2003, I adopted this 9 week old baby girl and named her Fujisu Intruder. She was a gift from my brother and sister-in-law after my fiancée died. My brother was serving in Iraq and couldn't be home so this gift was such a comfort. For just over 13.5 years (4,938 days) she has been by my side. For the first months of her life with me I NEVER put her down (she would lay in the pocket of my sweatshirts or in the hood. She was barely bigger than my hand and she was my ultimate comfort). She rode on the back of my motorcycle (I made a sturdy spot for her out of a soft sided pet carrier and she loved it). She watched my husband and I get married and eventually brought home two boys first and a little girl later (much to her dismay). She rode on my lap 4-wheeling. She came camping with us. She went hiking with us. She flattened our couches (my hubby liked to say). She talked to me when she needed something ~ either to go outside or fill up her bowl. She wouldn't leave me alone in the morning until I gave her a treat (our morning ritual). Coming home today after saying goodbye was extremely hard! It was then that I realized I will never be greeted by her again. She didn't care about anyone else other than me and would find me through the sea of legs coming through the door just to put her nose against my leg to say hello. Oh how I could go on and on about my dearest friend! The one being on this planet that would only be upset with me if I missed that morning treat or if I was gone too long. How I'll miss you Fuji!!
